This photo was taken at the runway of Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company overlooking the Tailings Dam 5A where all the toxic chemicals in the mine site are dumped. This is the only one left among many tailings dam of the mining company. The others collapsed poisoning the Abra River and communities along the river.
A movement called Save the Abra River Movement (STARM) was created in order to monitor the effects of the mine activities in the river's biodiversity.
